The ceremony awarding the Title of Distinguished Professor IST 2024 to Professor Paulo Martins from the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM) took place at the Solemn Session of the 113th anniversary of Instituto Superior Técnico, on May 23, 2024, at Técnico Innovation Center (TIC).

The Solemn Session of the 113th anniversary of Instituto Superior Técnico included, firstly, the awarding of Diplomas of Academic Excellence to students, as well as Diplomas of Pedagogical Excellence to professors, in which DEM counted a total of 28 Excellent Students and 50 Excellent Professors. In addition to students, professors, researchers and non-teaching staff honoured throughout this day, the highlight of the afternoon was the awarding of the Title of Distinguished Professor IST 2024 to two professors, namely, Professor Teresa Duarte from the Department of Chemical Engineering and Professor Paulo Martins from the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Most especially, the Title of Distinguished Professor IST 2024 was awarded to Professor Paulo Martins from DEM in recognition of his exceptional contributions throughout his academic career, with a significant impact on Instituto Superior Técnico, both in the scientific and pedagogical aspects, as well as in the influence that his scientific activity has had on society, leading our academic community in accordance with the highest academic standards.
