Best Student of the Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 2022/23 honoured with Apetro Award
The ceremony to deliver the Apetro Award to the Best Student of the Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, concluded in the academic year of 2022/23, Filipe Araújo, took place on May 20, 2024, at the Abreu Faro Amphitheatre, in Técnico Interdisciplinary Building, starting at 5:00 pm.
The ceremony to deliver the Apetro Award to the Best Student of the Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, concluded in the academic year of 2022/23, Filipe Araújo, took place on May 20, 2024, at the Abreu Faro Amphitheatre, in Técnico Interdisciplinary Building, starting at 5:00 pm.
The Apetro Award, established by the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM), in collaboration with the Coordination of the Integrated Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, and with the sponsorship of Apetro, aims to encourage and value excellence in the academic performance of students of the Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. This year, being the 6th edition since it was established, the Apetro Award honoured the Best Student of the Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, concluded in the academic year of 2022/23, Filipe Guarda Araújo.
The ceremony featured a series of brief speeches praising the awarded student, and inspiring him to be henceforth an ambassador of IST and DEM, namely, by Professor Matilde Marques, Vice-President of the Scientific Council, by Professor Carlos Santos Silva, Vice-President of the Pedagogical Council, by Professor Paulo Fernandes, Coordinator of the Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, by Professor Pedro Coelho, President of the Engineering Department Mechanics, also speaking on behalf of Professor Rogério Colaço, President of IST (who could not be present), and by Eng. António Comprido, Secretary General of Apetro, Portuguese Association of Oil Companies.
At last, the awarded student, Filipe Araújo, honoured by the distinction of the Apetro Award, gave an emotional speech, thanking his family, colleagues and professors for supporting his academic performance as a student of the Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at IST, as well as DEM, as a whole, for the appreciation of its students. In particular, the awarded student, Filipe Araújo, regarding his Master’s Dissertation, entitled “Alkaline Water Electrolysis: Ultrasonic Presence and Hydrogen Bubble Formation”, carried out within IN+, Centre for Innovation, Technology and Policy Research, also highlighted his Supervisors, namely, Professor Ana Moita and Researcher Rui Costa Neto.
