This year, the Day of the Department of Mechanical Engineering (DEM) 2025 occurs on February 14 at Centro de Caparide, gathering all faculty and researchers of DEM in one more annual get-together, being an excellent opportunity to reflect on what society expects from DEM and from the education offered to our DEM students.

In particular, the Day of DEM 2025 welcomes the President of the Order of Engineers, Eng. Fernando de Almeida Santos, as well as Professor Jerry Westerweel from Delft University of Technology (TUDelft), as Guest Speakers. Additionally, it also receives the President of Instituto Superior Técnico (IST), Professor Rogério Colaço, at the Opening Session. Other than that, the Day of DEM 2025 also features a panel of representatives from the business world, debating on the relationship between IST/DEM as the education provider of engineers and the companies as employers.
