Técnico alumnus named in Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list
The Técnico alumnus Martim Perestrelo (Mechanical Engineering) is named in the Manufacturing & Industry list for co-founding a company that optimises electric vehicle charging.
Martim Perestrelo, a Mechanical Engineering alumnus, is named to the 2024 Forbes 30 Under 30 Europe list, in the ‘Manufacturing & Industry’ category, by co-founding Tether, a software company that aims to analyse, predict and optimise charging times for electric vehicles.
Claiming that an electric vehicle’s battery is not in use 95% of the time, the Spanish-based company aims to collaborate with operators of charging points and other energy management systems to put batteries at rest at the service of the European energy grid – the V2G (vehicle-to-grid) model. In this way, based on models that predict drivers’ charging habits and routines, the company co-founded by Martim Perestrelo aims to turn electric vehicles (unused) into another element that supports consumption needs in the rest of the energy supply system.
Forbes’ 30 Under 30 lists aim to highlight 30 personalities under the age of 30 in various industries every year. The 30 winners are chosen from the group of nominees by the magazine’s editors, a panel of judges and experts from each industry. For Europe, there are lists in ten different areas (including ‘Manufacturing & Industry’), totalling 300 notable personalities.
