Title: "Structural analysis of pipelines for deep water applications"
(Seminar delivered in English Language)

Abstract:

In the offshore oil and gas industries, a significant portion of equipment and structures are approaching the end of their operational life cycle, increasing the risk of unexpected failures. Despite the detection of corrosion during inspections, many pipelines remain in service for economic reasons, highlighting the importance of accurate strength assessments. This research focuses on enhancing the understanding and prediction of subsea pipeline strength, encompassing both single-wall steel pipes and sandwich wall pipes. Collapse strength assessments are conducted for pipelines with varying diameter-to-thickness ratios (D/t), considering the impact of corrosion defects. Utilizing 3D Non Linear Finite Element Analysis, models incorporating combined corrosion effects are developed and analysed. The study investigates the influence of corrosion defects on pipeline collapse modes and strength, while also addressing the effects of ovality and eccentricity on strength evaluations.
