José Miranda Scholarship helps student get closer to ‘dream of becoming an engineer’
Carolina Brandão, a 1st year Mechanical Engineering student, was awarded at the 3rd edition of the José Miranda Scholarship Programme.
The José Miranda Scholarship was awarded to Carolina Brandão, a Mechanical Engineering student at Instituto Superior Técnico. Her ‘dream has always been to become an engineer and it has never been so close’, she shared at the ceremony held on 25 November, in the Civil Engineering Museum, at Alameda campus.
The scholarship patron, Rosa Miranda (daughter of José Miranda), an alumna and former professor at Técnico, took the opportunity to thank the school once again.
The ceremony was chaired by Francisco Melo, the Vice-President of Técnico for Academic Affairs, who stressed ‘it’s moments like this that make Técnico what it truly is’. Thanking Rosa Miranda, he recalled that these scholarships enable Técnico students to ‘pursue their path and their dreams’.
The Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, Pedro Coelho, also attended the ceremony.
The protocol for this scholarship programme, which aims to support Mechanical Engineering undergraduate students, was signed in March 2022. The initiative is part of a series of scholarships promoted by Instituto Superior Técnico.
