Presentation of the new Formula Student Lisboa prototype fills Técnico’s Great Hall
The Formula Student Lisboa presented the FST12, an electric and autonomous vehicle that will compete in the next season.
Several prototypes designed by Formula Student Lisboa (FST Lisboa) over the last 20 years were exhibited in the Main Building’s atrium, at Alameda Campus, on 21st June, to mark the FST 12 Rollout.
The event took place in a hybrid format. The team, composed of 50 Técnico students and led by Dinis Ventura (team leader), presented the prototype developed during this academic year, the FST12. It is the ninth electric vehicle and the third autonomous prototype developed by FST Lisboa.
For five years, this team “designs, develops and builds” a new prototype every year, recalled the president of Instituto Superior Técnico, Rogério Colaço. “The FST is one of our best ambassadors that fulfils its mission in an exceptional way”, he added. Rogério Colaço also highlighted that FST is one of Técnico’s student groups with more “functional maturity”, and stated, “it is a consortium that involves several experience and expertise”.
Celfocus is FST Lisboa’s main sponsor, whose representative Maria Gil also attended the event. “I would like to thank Técnico for making projects of this nature viable”, she said. The School, thus, promotes “the development of Portugal’s talent excellence”. Regarding the work of FST Lisboa, Maria Gil highlighted “excellence, ambition and teamwork”.
The Show-off – where the audience could see a small demonstration of the prototype – took place after the ceremony.
FST Lisboa will compete in the Electric Vehicle (EV) and Driverless Vehicle (DV) categories. The next challenges are the 2nd edition of Formula Student Portugal (FSP), from 31st July to 6th August, in Castelo Branco; Formula Student Spain (FSS), from 7th to 13th August, in the Circuit de Catalunya and, finally, Formula Student Germany (FSG) from 14th to 20th August, in the Circuit of Hockenheim.
In the previous season, 2021/22, the team achieved its best results, winning 3rd place in FSG and 1st place in FSS, both in the DV category.
